PERKINS CUE 4-2 METRO BAR A
League Champions Perkins Cue made it a League & Cup double with a hard fought 4-2 win over the Metro Bar A to win the Team KO Final.
Frame ONE saw Alan Sim (Cue) take on Alan Farrow and it was after an exchange of tactical shots and an error by Farrow that let Sim in and he put the Cuemen 1-0 up.
Frame TWO saw Mike Barker (Cue) pair up against Dave Ashton. Ashton broke well and looked in good position to clear but missed. However, Barker struggled to get into the match and gave Ashton a chance that he took to level the scores 1-1.
Frame THREE saw Dave Barker (Cue) take on Paul Shepherd but Shep never got a chance to get going and it was left to Barker to clear up to put the Cuemen 2-1 up.
Frame FOUR was the turn of Dave Whitfield (Cue) to take on Andy Palin. This frame was littered with errors with both players struggling to find any consistency and even though Whitfield had a great chance to win, it was Palin who pulled off a great pot to clinch it and again level things at 2-2.
Frame FIVE and Martin Priestley (Cue) came in to take on Roy Brown. Nerves were evident and opportunities for both players were there. But it was Priestley who seized the initiative and cleared well to put the Cuemen 3-2 up.
Frame SIX saw earlier winners Dave Barker and Dave Ashton pair up and this was a grueller! Both players showed each other the utmost respect as it was drawn into an intense tactical frame. Eventually, Barker had a chance to go for game and, although it wasn't a straightforward black, he calmly potted it into the top corner to give the PERKINS CUE side their 5th Stan Bent Team KO success and also their 3rd league and cup double.
Well done to both teams for a great final played in great spirit and respect.
A big thanks goes to Referee Shaun Cooper and also Leigh & Becky Kenny for their hospitality.top
