8-ball classification

8-Balls should be marked on the scorecard by entering the number “8” next to the name of the player who has recorded the 8-ball. There are three ways to perform an 8-ball:

Firstly, a player can break and dish in one visit. ie the breaking player legally splits the pack, potting one or more red/yellow balls in the process, and then goes on to legally pot all balls of their chosen suit, followed by the eight ball.

Secondly, 8-balls can be marked on the score card next to the name of the non-breaking player. ie a player legally breaks dry (ie DOES NOT pot a ball on the break), and their opponent comes to the table and then goes on to legally pot all balls of their chosen suit, followed by the eight ball.

Thirdly, the incoming player can also record an 8-ball if they break and dish in one visit after an illegal break (the three cumulative points rule not achieved) by the original player breaking off.

NOTE: An 8-Ball should NOT be awarded if the cue ball, on a legal break, goes in-off or leaves the playing surface.
