8-ball classification

8-Balls should be marked on the score card by entering the number “8” next to the name of the player who has recorded the 8-ball. There are a number of ways to perform an 8-ball.

A player can break and dish in one visit. i.e. the player chosen to break splits the pack legally and pots one or more red/yellow balls, nominates his/her preferred suit (red/yellow), and goes on to pot all balls of that colour followed by the black ball.

Secondly, 8-Balls can be marked on the score card by the name of the non-breaking player. The criteria for this were changed at the August 2014 AGM. The 8-Ball clearance will NOW be based on the FIRST visit.

a. When a player breaks and DOES NOT pot a ball, and the opposite player then clears, THIS IS AN 8 BALL CLEARANCE.

b. When a player breaks and goes in-off, and the opposite player then clears, THIS IS AN 8 BALL CLEARANCE.

c. When a player breaks and hits the cue ball off the table. The opposite player is awarded TWO Shots. If the player clears on the FIRST VISIT - THIS IS AN 8 BALL CLEARANCE.

d. When a player breaks and pots any ball/balls BUT goes in-off, and the opposite player then clears, THIS IS AN 8 BALL CLEARANCE.

e. When a player breaks and makes a FOUL BREAK, i.e 4 balls not hitting a cushion. The balls are then re-racked and the opposite player breaks and clears on the FIRST VISIT, THIS IS AN 8 BALL CLEARANCE.
