The League title had already been decided the week before but there was still a matter of
the relegation issue to be decided. Four teams were still involved and it was the Charnley A
who took the first step to survival with a 4-2 win against fellow strugglers Metro Bar and
then drew 3-3 with 2nd place Hop Pole. The Metro Bar managed a 4-2 win at the Bird in Hand A
but it wasn’t enough to keep them up. So it was one from either the Luckpenny or the
Rickerscote to decide the final relegation place and with news that the Luckpenny had lost
4-2 to the Crooked Cue X, the Rickerscote only needed a draw to stay up but also lost 4-2
to league champions the Crooked Cue. The other match saw the Charnley B draw 3-3 with the
Hop Pole C. Merit winners for the 1st division with 15 wins were Dave and Mike Barker
(both Crooked Cue) along with Kev Daly (Hop Pole C).
